John – 30 weeks

Esophageal Atresia

Baby Johnny SimpsonMy name is Tricia Simpson and my son John was born 10 weeks premature (weighing 3lbs) and was diagnosed with Esophageal Atresia at birth, which means he could not swallow or eat by mouth.  He required continuous suction for the past 6 months and has been in Westchester Medical Center since he was born on July 14, 2008.  It has been a long journey.  From requiring oxygen to having collapsed lungs it has been continuous ups and downs. He has required multiple surgeries to correct his esophagus problem and will continue to require procedures in the future.  Despite all of his setbacks he has become a happy beautiful baby boy who loves his nurses and doctors and gives smiles to anyone that comes to visit him.  We are planning to take him home this week and are thankful for all that the staff and Hailey’s Hope Foundation has done for us.  We appreciate everything and hope all the families that require your help are as lucky as us to bring home a happy healthy baby.
