Supporting Families in the NICU

FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM GUIDELINES

ABOUT HAILEY’S HOPE FOUNDATION

Hailey’s Hope Foundation (HHF) is dedicated to helping families in need with babies hospitalized in the NICU.  It was created in 2007 by several families based upon their personal experiences with premature birth, infant loss and the NICU.  They wanted to ensure that other families get the support they need to cope during their difficult NICU journeys and to help their babies get better.  Currently, HHF has programs in NICUs at four New York hospitals:  Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital (Valhalla), Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital/NY Presbyterian (Manhattan), Orange Regional Medical Center (Middletown) and Albany Medical Center (Albany).  HHF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is not employed by any hospital.

SUPPORT OFFERED

HHF helps families pay for non-medical expenses incurred with a NICU hospitalization, such as lodging, transportation, food, and hospital parking, to ease the financial burdens of long and frequent hospital visits.  Typical forms of support include gas and metro cards, hospital café meal cards, hospital parking passes, and overnight stays at local hotels for families traveling more than 45 miles one-way.  HHF does not help pay for medical or insurance related expenses.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The Financial Support Program is targeted for families in financial need.  If you are a parent of a baby in the NICU and are in financial need, you can submit an application for support online.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Please see your NICU social worker to apply for financial support.  All applications must be submitted online.  HHF will review your application and determine whether you qualify for support.  Please understand that submitting an application does not automatically qualify you for support.  Your application will be reviewed within 7 business days.  If your application is approved, you will be notified by either Hailey’s Hope Foundation or the NICU social worker, and your support package will be delivered directly to the NICU Social Worker.  Applicants can re-apply for support every 30 days after the date of the first application while their baby is in the NICU.

HHF strives to help as many NICU families in need as possible.  Since each family’s situation is unique, the type and amount of support approved can differ for each applicant.  If you have any questions, please contact the NICU Social Worker or call us at (914) 584-8833.  All requests for financial support will be kept confidential as required by law.
